Despite what many people think, the “cure” for pride is not humility.
We live in a culture that likes to take people down a peg or two. Tall poppy syndrome involves cutting the tops off the poppies.
But people are not poppies.
And pride is not so easily displaced.
If pride is an issue in your life, then I encourage you to develop a practice of gratitude.
If you are grateful for what you have: provision, opportunity, personality – then it is impossible to remain proud.
Say it out aloud. Journal it. Think it consciously.
